January 2017

I am trying to do monthly posts, but it's March and here are our January pictures!  Even so, I love looking back on all these everyday moments!

We came home from snowy Steamboat to sunny, warm days!  We have been biking on the trails a lot by our house.  The kids love jumping off their bikes and climbing on the rocks near the trail or exploring near the stream.

Emma wore my sister Emily's winter coat from many years ago this winter.  It happened to be the exact same shade of blue as my winter coat, and there are few things Emma loves more than matching!  (We know she gets this from me!)

On a whim, I had Emma's hair cut one afternoon after school after seeing one of Isaac's little friends come into CC with the most adorable bob!  I knew it would be the perfect solution to all the time and tears it takes to comb and do her hair each morning.  I think it's just darling!

I centered our whole school day on Friday, January 20, around the Inauguration.  Before the swearing-in, we found Washington D.C. on the map, found Lincoln on our President cards and discussed how President Trump was using his Bible at the swearing-in, and said our pledges.  The kids and I all watched the swearing-in ceremony, and then Isaac and I watched part of the motorcade procession in the afternoon.

Both of my kids LOVE these hats from Uncle Von in Minnesota.  Emma came down early one morning with her school clothes on and her Northern Dewatering hat.

Isaac also wore his to CC!

Sweet snuggles from a teething boy!

One little bike rider all protected with knee and elbow pads!

We moved Josiah out of his crib and into a toddler bed!  Sniff!  It's true that babies don't keep.
Isaac and Dave finished their basketball season.  They didn't win any games, but they had a lot of fun.  I was impressed with how much the boys improved over the two months of games!

I took the boys to the Stock Show one day while Emma was at PreK!  Isaac was got a big kick out of looking at the cow out of the corner of his eye.  (The cow was also looking at Isaac from the corner of his eye!)  He also took Josiah all around the petting zoo--Josiah did NOT like the petting zoo nearly as much as Isaac!

Reading books while I teach Isaac piano in the mornings

Isaac did the Read Aloud Revival January reading challenge!  Here he is reading aloud to all his stuffed animals.  (Josiah and I listened, too!) :)  One of my favorite parts of homeschooling this year has been watching Isaac's reading skills grow so much!

There's nowhere Josiah would rather be than sitting in Daddy's truck!

New haircuts for the boys!
