We left on June 13 and spent the night in Amarillo at an Embassy Suites downtown.
While we drove, we listened to my podcast episode I had recorded on "WDW Prep To Go" about our cruise!
We arrived at the YMCA of the Rockies on our 21st anniversary, June 14, 2024!
Josiah woke us up on our first morning at 6:15 a.m. by knocking on the exterior door of our bedroom which opened to the deck. He had already been outside reading his Bible but had locked himself out.
Then, he wrote 2 pages in his journal and saw a hummingbird! He wanted to sit in the gravel, not on any of the chairs on our deck.

Based on our friends Jeri and Tim's recommendation, Dave and Josiah drove into town and bought bakery treats at Cinnamon's Bakery! They were delicious!!

Dinner at Pop and Mom-o's, which was followed several evenings by building outdoor structures. The kids LOVED this and worked so hard hauling logs and brush. They legitimately wanted to sleep outside in their dwellings!
The library had hummingbird feeders. Emma was very patient and was rewarded - hummingbirds came to feed right out of her hand!
Climbing outside our cabin
The kids loved taking turns driving aroudn camp with Dave. When Titus was driving in Dave's lap, two older ladies were walking on the side of the road. Titus yelled, "Watch out!"
Dave, Isaac, and Emma went fishing!
Dave and Josiah did a trail ride into Rocky Mountain National Park.
Lunch in town before Emily, Caleb, and Linnea left
Rocky Mountain National Park with Mom and Dad
While we were exploring at Rocky Mountain National Park, Emma and Dave were doing an aerial obstacle course!
We caravanned back to Texas with Mom and Dad.

We visited Garden of the Gods and had dinner at a diner in the pouring rain.
We spent another night in Amarillo and then switched kids. David, Isaac, Titus, and I hiked the Capulin Volcano in New Mexico! We have driven by those so many times over the years in all our drives to/from Colorado and have never stopped. It was beautiful!
...and that was the end of an amazing anniversary celebration trip!
Other memories happily remembered but not pictured...
*a long breakfast at the Embassy Suites talking with Dad (Pop)
*taking early morning walks through the camp, of which Josiah joined me for a few
*walking through all the trees past Mom and Dad's cabin and talking
*shopping with Mom in town
