Beat the Heat: Foil River

Emma still naps twice a day, though I do push her through her morning nap time a few days each week.  Generally, though, I like for Emma to stay on schedule...which means we are home a lot.  So, this past weekend, I made a list of summer projects and activities to help us "beat the heat" here at home.  :)

This morning, Isaac and I tackled our first project--a foil river.  It was pretty windy, so our foil blew away a few times and then became really wrinkled.  Running the hose at the top of the foil as you shape your river helps a lot (tip found here).

We tried sending a lot of a lot of bath toys and a boat down our foil river.  Eventually, we discovered that bottle caps work the best.  :)

This lion is one of Isaac's favorite toys right now.  He liked pretending that the lion was stomping through the river in the jungle.  :)

After lunch, we rebuilt the river on our driveway, where there is more of a slope than our backyard.  And, Isaac put his swim trunks on.  :)

Emma liked playing with the water toys, but stayed far away from the water. :)
After we cleaned everything up, Isaac loved playing with the hose!
We are so excited for a summer full of fun and play!

(Here's another fun idea--a foil river with waterfall)
