A REAL White Christmas
It's about time I (Dave) wrote something for our blog. So as Bethany and I just arrived in my hometown of Steamboat Springs, CO, I think I will write on the joys of a REAL white Christmas. I only wish I had a picture or two to enhance the post, but I guess I'll have to be extra descriptive. As I write, I can glance out of the study window at my favorite kind of snow. Big, white, fluffy flakes float to the ground at a leisurely pace. This isn't the wet, heavy snow of the Midwest, or the once-a-year ice pellet pelting of Texas that everyone down there hopes for and calls snow (?!?!), but the dry "champagne powder" that every snow sport enthusiast only dreams of. Children flop down in it to make snow angels and a powdery puff exhales as the snow is displaced. It blankets the ground, trees and rooftops in a thick, cozy coat of white that can make any hovel postcard-quality! So from our white Christmas to yours, we wish you a MERRY Christmas, and hope that someday you all can experience a WHITE Christmas! (especially our TX friends!)

Bergstrom Christmas
Our festivities with Mom, Dad, and Em began yesterday afternoon, when Emily treated us all to "Charlotte's Web." It is such a fabulous movie (and I'm not just saying that because I teach at an elementary school!). We all loved it and laughed hilariously!! Then, we went back to my parent's house for grilled salmon and a delicious dinner. We had a lot of fun opening presents, too. My favorite was when Dad opened his Santa Fe railroad map that we framed for him! He loved it!! We watched "Anne of Green Gables" and went to bed around midnight. This morning, we opened stockings and had Swedish pancakes!! What could be better??!!
Off to Colorado
We're leaving in a few hours for Colorado! We're flying directly into Hayden, so we will miss all the delays and cancellations that have backed up Denver the last few days! We're so excited to be going to real winter weather! Last night we celebrated Christmas with the Bergstroms, and we'll try to post some pictures of that soon! Merry Christmas!!

Point of Grace
On Saturday night, we went to Point of Grace's "Winter Wonderland" concert with Jenny & Joel and Kimi & Rob. It was David's first PoG concert (how has it taken me 3 1/2 years to get him to one??!?), and he can honestly say he enjoyed it! The first act was mostly holiday tunes, but their second act was stunning with all sacred pieces. Heather did "All Is Well" as a solo, and it was just stunning. They also had all their kids come on stage, dressed as shepherds & angels, and sing "Angels We Have Heard on High"--so cute!! This picture of Jenny and me was as "close" as we were going to get to the girls that night, since they weren't doing a meet and greet after the concert. ;)

Progressive Dinner
On Saturday night, we had a progressive dinner with our small group. We had appetizers at Steve & Courtney's house, and then everyone headed to our house for the main meal! Dave made delicious teriyaki meatballs! We also sang Christmas carols around our piano! Then, we went to Rod and Kelly's for desserts and a white elephant gift exchange. In this picture, we are showing our wonderful white elephant gifts! I got a beautiful set of holiday mugs, and Dave got a Santa that we still haven't found a home for, yet.... ;) I will try to post more pictures of the evening.
