Father's Day 2011

For Father's Day, I bought a bike trailer for us to use with our bikes, so we headed downtown late on Saturday afternoon to the Trinity Trails. We parked at one of parking lots near the north end of the trail system and took off biking downtown. Even though Saturday's heat (104!) set a record for June 18, we still had a great time. We biked about 4 miles and then ate our picnic at a park/playground we found on the trail. Isaac loved playing at a new playground, and he had his first experience with a merry-go-round. On our way home, we stopped at Braum's for ice cream. It was such a fun time together to celebrate Father's Day!

8 Years!

Eight years ago we said "I do!"

I'm so thankful that I get to journey through life beside my true love. 

Life isn't always easy, but so much richer with David by my side.  I love you, David Rinn!

My Uncle Jon babysat Isaac on Saturday night so we could go out for an anniversary dinner. 

We had a great time at Maggiano's over at North Park in Dallas.

Our Summer Bucket List

To say the least, this summer is starting off nothing like we expected.  There were a few very rough weeks of accepting the fact that we wouldn't be adding either the baby girl or baby boy to our family.  This doesn't mean that we aren't still heartbroken, but after a while Dave & I made a decision to celebrate what we have & make this the best summer ever with Isaac.  Of course, it's not that we didn't enjoy Isaac before... but, we decided to be more intentional about doing memorable activities this summer.  So, I made a Summer Bucket List of fun things for us to do! 

And, this week, we kicked off our Summer Bucket List with a bang!

• Southlake Storytime--I've taken Isaac to storytime at two other libraries, but the one at Southlake's library is fantastic!  Isaac loved the parachute games, finger plays, & songs.  Every mom & child had a copy of the same book to read together, too.  When the lesson was over, the librarians brought out lots of fun toys for the kids to play with.  Plus, there's free Starbucks coffee for the moms!  What could be better? 

• Roanoke Splash Pad--Last summer, we went to a birthday party at the Roanoke Splash Pad.  Isaac couldn't walk yet, but he managed to have fun crawling around the splash pad.  But, he LOVED it yesterday and spent nearly three hours running, crawling, & climbing everywhere!  He didn't even like stopping to eat lunch.  There's also a park at the same location if/when your child gets tired of the water toys.  And, best of all, it's free!

• Trophy Club Pool/Splash Park--When I mentioned to my mom that we were going to the Roanoke Splash Pad, she asked if we'd ever been to the one in Trophy Club.  It's not far from my mom's house, so the other day I drove by it and knew we had to go soon!  I wish I had more pictures, but it really was all I could do to keep up with Isaac.  There were several different sizes of slides for kids, lots of gushers, and fun animal water fountains.  Isaac loved the toddler area and even spent awhile in the area designed for elementary kids.  At the same place is also a zero-entry wading pool and a lap pool.  We could have stayed hours longer!  I can't wait to go back!   (Kids under 35" are free.  Non-residents pay $5, residents $3.  You can also bring your own food into the park.)

Can I say again how much I love summer?!? 

Future Artists

Isaac's little buddy Ashton spent the day with us yesterday. 

After an hour at the park, we were all hot and ready to stay inside to cool off.  I decided finger painting would be a fun activity to pass some time.

Finger painting with two toddler boys is NOT for the faint-at-heart! 

But, they did a great job and were amused with the paints, Q-tip "brushes," and cookie cutters for a LONG time!

We're so glad it's summer...which means it's time to swim!

 This little guy LOVES the water! 

He's figured out where all the benches are in my parent's pool, and he runs around the pool to wherever they are and crawls in backwards onto a bench where he can stand. 

He also tries blowing bubbles and putting his face in the water.  We're starting swimming lessons soon, so he'll be a pro at those skills in no time!

This past Saturday, Isaac was so sad when it was time to stop swimming and eat supper.  As soon as he was done eating, he got out of his high chair and tried crawling back into the pool--fully dressed and with shoes on!  Ha! 

To say the least, Isaac threw a fit was extremely upset that swimming was over for the day! 

But, we'll be back soon!  We're looking forward to lots of time in the pool this summer!
