June 2023

A wonderful accomplishment in June is that Titus completed 6 weeks of survival swim lessons and is able to flip to a float and then flip back to swim again.  He LOVES swimming!

A highlight of June was this amazing umbrella I found on NextDoor!  A couple from Southlake was selling it.  I saw the post one afternoon, and Dave and Isaac picked it up that evening!  It has provided so much shade for us outside.

FaceTiming with "Nea"

Lots of baking in the kitchen - snickerdoodle and homemade Fudgesicles

Tex is always nearby when we are baking, though he surprised us this time by hiding in the cupboard!

Pop and Mom-o sampled Emma's Fudgesicles when they had an impromptu spaghetti dinner with us one evening after Dave helped them with mowing.
Fudgesicles were a hit!

The kids have new (more!) chores this summer.  Each is responsible for the dishes and kitchen cleanup of one meal of the day.

Titus saw this cart when we got to Tom Thumb and DRUG me over to it.  He wanted to ride in it so badly!  After I put him in, he started tapping the other steering wheel and saying, "Mae Mae! Mae Mae!"

Titus discovered pockets and loves to put little objects inside.

A fun evening of swimming before baby Jonathan was born!
Titus went off the grotto and all the Davises and Rinns cheered!

Titus moved up to the Children's Building! I knew he was going to move up as Jennifer had told me ahead of tine, but I still cried when I opened the email.  It goes so fast!
Dave and I looked like first-time parents as we stood outside Titus' room and watched him through the window!

Father's Day treat - prime rib at Mac's!

Dave and the kids spent Father's Day afternoon working on our bathroom!

While Dave and I were away celebrating our anniversary, Isaac got to spend a weekend with the Stoneciphers!  They helped a church member move and had a late night dinner at In - N - Out!  Isaac had reminded us over and over that he was going to the Stoneciphers on June 10, and he had a fantastic time!

The kids worked so hard on candy boards for Father's Day.  They were so proud to carry them out and watch each recipient read the message.

Pop went off the grotto on Father's Day without sitting on the edge and lunging in, ha!
The kids were so proud!

strategizing on the technique - "close your eyes and run!"

More vacuuming with shoes on, of course!
Eating snacks with Emma's shoes on, too!

Titus keeps on us on our toes!  One day after lunch at my mom's we thought he was lost.  We probably searched for 4 minutes, but it felt like forever as we ran, yelled, prayed, and looked by the pond, the empty lot, and the street.  He was in the study with the door closed behind himself after all.  Thank you, Lord, for keeping Titus safe!

We spent several afternoons at the Walmart vision center picking out new glasses!  Both Emma and Josiah had signifiant vision changes at their checkups.

Errands with Josiah (another vision center visit) and a fun stop at McD's

This is a great morning exercise crew!
You'll never know what you'll see in Trophy Club when you're out exercising!!

Some mornings we run to the park.  On this particular morning, even Tex was in a swing!
Titus had outgrown his shoes (well, Isaac, Josiah, and Randy's former shoes) and was so proud of this new pair I bought him.

Josiah took this picture of Tex and thought he looked so cute waiting for a belly rub.

We hosted weekly swim parties at our house!  And, we had a first for our pool - a lightning delay!  The kids stayed out for nearly an hour due to lightning in the area, but this water table, lunch, and popsicle treats were a hit during the (forced) break!

Fun at the Trophy Club pool

Fun swim parties with friends

We spent one afternoon building one of Emma's Lego sets.

Dave is singing in the choir this summer and has rehearsal on Thursday evenings.  The kids and I have been swimming most Thursday evenings together while Dave is at rehearsal.

One of the activities we wanted to do this summer was have swim parties at Pop and Mom-o's, too!
Titus loves going off their slide, and he went at least 20 times over and over one night.  He pops up out of the water and says "gain!" (again!)

So many great memories!
"Nothing like a night in Texas!"

A fun surprise for me was that my question to Awesome Etiquette was featured on their show!  I wrote in as "Perplexed Pool Party Planner."  My kids were as excited as I was, and we all listened to the response at dinner one night.  Sometimes, they still tease me and call me "Perplexed Pool Party Planner."

a belated birthday gift - an evening out to see "Little Women"
(When we got home at 11:00, Dave was finishing the tiling in our bathroom.  I will never forget laying in bed at midnight while Dave was cutting tile with the saw, ha!  Even Titus didn't wake up above us!)
hot Texas days!

All this swimming leads to very tired kids!
