Silver Dollar City 2023

We were only the 13th car in the parking lot when we arrived at Silver Dollar City!  We were about to get on the tram when we realized Titus had a massive diaper disaster that required a lot of hands-on work.  This was extra interesting because our Suburan was filled with all our luggage for the week, and there was hardly a place to lay him down.  Once he was ready to go, we took the tram to the park and started off our time at Silver Dollar City with lunch!  Josiah was excited to try this turkey leg, and he loved it!  Dave and Isaac agreed it was delicious!

Dave took the big kids to ride rollercoasters, while Titus, Josiah, and I went to Grandfather's Mansion.  We walked around a bit and ran into Dave, Isaac, and Emma who had already done one rollercoaster and the Giant Swing!  Isaac didn't want to ride that again, so we all watched Emma and Dave ride it again, and then we all did Grandfather's Mansion together.

Dave and the big kids headed off for more rides, while Josiah, Titus, and I waited to see Silver Dollar City's performance of "A Christmas Carol."  It was phenomenal!  The acting and musicianship was suburb, and even Titus sat still on my lap mesmerized by the entire performance.  He even knew exactly when to clap!  

Josiah, Titus, and I did rides in The Grand Exposition.  Titus was just past the 36" height requirement, and Josiah loved all of these rides, too. 

Dave knew from their trip last year that the line for the cave filled up quickly, so we got in line around 6:00 p.m. for the 6:45 tour.  This may have been the highlight of the day!  The guide emphasized over and over how you should not go if you don't like heights, have knee/walking problems, etc.  They gave us two chances to back out.  Nothing could have prepared me for the drop when you first enter the cave.  It is 20 stories down to the bottom from where you enter at the top of the big room, called The Cathedral Room.  I was terrified and cried most of the way down the scaffolding, but Isaac stayed right by me and encouraged me.  Dave carried Titus all the way down the scaffolding steps as well.  Once we were at the bottom, it was magnificent!  The history was incredible, and we loved the cave tour.  There were two rivers that began in the cave, as well as a beautiful (and terrifyingly deep) waterfall.  They even lit up Christmas lights in the cave!

We ended the night with treats at Delilah's Bakery supplemented with snacks from our cooler.  The Binghams recommended Delilah's, and all the bakery treats were delicious!  The lines were so low that Dave, Isaac, and Emma rode Wildfire 6 times in a row, while Josiah, Titus, and I rode the small rollercoaster in The Grand Exposition.  Josiah LOVED this ride!  The lights were so beautiful, and we enjoyed watching the Christmas tree display as we left.  It was a wonderful trip to Silver Dollar City!
